This 15th century coaching inn is the oldest in the picturesque village of Hawkshead, featuring comfortable, convenient facilities in traditional surroundings. Relax beneath 500 year old oak beams, and revel in a sense of history. Each room offers a sense of heritage respectfully complemented by a modern en suite bathroom. Everything you'll need is on-site when you return from a busy day's exploring the stunning surrounding area. The bar offers tradition at every turn, from the real ales and homemade lunches; to the rich oak panelling and warm fireplace that have remained unaltered since the 18th century. A separate restaurant also retains a number of original features, and offers candle-lit meals that make for a cosy and intimate atmosphere.
The restaurant menus change daily so that it can offer the best combinations of fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Meeting facilities are also available, with space for up to 20 people.
